[Tiki-devel] Tiki 17 release process is starting !

Bernard Sfez-3
Hello Tikiers,

A lot of stuff has been added (and will still be added for the next 3 days) to trunk and we are ready to branch this Saturday (UTC afternoon).

For those who have still last things to commit, it is really the time then.

Tiki 17 is gonna be awesome !!!!! (I know I said it already)

+1 I’ve had the same feeling. Sometimes our tiki release are good, but this one… while I think it will take the cake :)

Jonny Bradley-4
Hi all,

I was wondering whether to press the button on the 17.x branch and then this came in...

...which is nice, and i'm feeling a bit Saturday night now so i think i'll postpone the actual branching to tomorrow morning (12:00UTCish) so i can do stuff with it like updates wiki pages etc.

So there's another 12 hours or so for any last minute enhancements and new stuff for 17.0! (unless someone else wants to do it ;)

jonny

p.s. I reckon r62017 would probably be ok in stable as tiki-check is a special case and enhancements are sort of fixes anyway :)

lindon-4
Sounds good. I am going to try to get the change in to only show the timeout warning on admin pages when a submit button is clicked, rather than when clicking anywhere on the form.
Regards,
lindon

Re: [Tiki-devel] Tiki 17 release process is starting !

Jonny Bradley-4

Hi all

With apologies for the delay - branches/17.x is now created and i've updated https://dev.tiki.org/Where+to+commit to suit - i removed some rather confusing and irrelevant stuff so hope it's ok. As always do improve if you can but i think the less verbose that page can be the better, it's complicated enough!

(oh, and i removed the bits saying "to commit to 15.x you have to first commit to 15.x - just didn't make sense to me... ;)

Cheers, let's try and fix some bug now! (well, tomorrow)

Re: [Tiki-devel] Tiki 17 release process is starting !

lindon-4
Nice work Jonny!

One thing that’s not that clear in the where to commit table is that after committing anything to 17.x, you should merge the change with trunk. I know above it says we’re in the semi-automatic merge period but that’s not really reflected in the table. I can add but not sure if that was part of the clutter you wanted to get rid of.

Thanks again for doing the branching!
Regards,
lindon

Re: [Tiki-devel] Tiki 17 release process is starting !

Jonny Bradley-4
Good question Lindon - i don't think it ever did suggest that everyone should try to do their own merge into trunk, and as long as it's done every few days it usually works out ok... but please do add a little link there to the instructions if you think it will help (and not confuse people)

I added the 17.x daily build to cron and in the wiki: https://dev.tiki.org/Daily+Build

Just remove the "(currently in release process)" thingy when done. :-)

Cheers,
Oliver
