[Tiki-devel] Release on the way: URGENT NOTICE

Bernard Sfez-3
Hello all,

We are starting the work to initiate a release very soon.
Please do not commit anything (16, 15 and 12) in the coming hour.

If you have an emergency join us at live.tiki.org and speak (but act fast :D)

See you in a different version ! :)

[Tiki-devel] New releases

Jonny Bradley-4
Hi all

We did three new releases today, 16.2, 15.4 and 12.11 - please you you test the new tarballs from the usual place:

    https://sourceforge.net/projects/tikiwiki/files/

One test by Jean-Marc (creating the first new file gallery) broke badly in the 12.11 file galleries but Bernard and i were enable to reproduce.

I am out of time now, so if there are serious problems in this (or any of the other) you'll have to delete the releases and try again after fixes.

Good luck!

jonny

Re: [Tiki-devel] New releases

Jean-Marc Libs
Hi guys,

Thanks Jonny for taking this time right before travelling.

After more testing, I can tell this issue I had with creating a new file gallery on a brand new Tiki12.11 install already exist in 12.10 (so, no regression) and it goes away after clearing caches (so, no big deal).

I't weird that caches need to be cleared on a new install when one would expect them to be empty, but it is not a relaes blocker.

So… Please test the releases and verify there are no "real" issues.

Cheers,
Jyhem

Re: [Tiki-devel] New releases

Jonny Bradley-4

Phew! Thanks for the feedback Jean-Marc, yes, most odd that it was a cache thing on a clean install, but then we like odd! :)

Once (if/when) everyone's happy about these releases then the version notifier files in trunk will need updating (like this https://sourceforge.net/p/tikiwiki/code/60679/) the info on https://dev.tiki.org/Where+to+commit changing and trumpets blowing, party time etc!

We probably won't get much time as one of the one-click installers is very on the ball at spotting new releases!

Cheers all,

jonny

p.s. Oh yes, we should probably also stop the semi-automatic merging now, so a few weeks of refactoring and tidying up can all happen before 17.x time - discuss?

Re: [Tiki-devel] New releases

Geoff - Enmore Services
Hmmm - been trying to download the new versions from Sourceforge but SF is reporting "Oh snap! We can't process this request." Whenever I try to access any of the Tiki folders

Anyone else seeing this?

Re: [Tiki-devel] New releases

Xavier de Pedro (Tiki)
In reply to this post by Jonny Bradley-4

Hi Jonny and all prople involved in the releases.

***** Executive sumary: 12.11 and 16.2 are NOT ready as-is, imho. (15.4 is good) *****

What I did and noticed:

I downloaded the the .7z files (16.2, 15.4, 12.11), fire the installers in non-English lang, and all went fine until I reached the point to install some of the featured profiles from the profiles Wizard: 12.11 and 16.2 are in bad shape, unfortunately, while 15.4 went all smooth. Just in case it was profile dependant, I attempted to apply the same "Collaborative_Community_12" featured profile to the 2 releases, and same results as before: 12 and 16 are in bad shape, for different reasons:

Tiki 12.11:

===============================================

Applying the profile didn't report any issue, and first pages seen were fine until I attempted to visit:

http://localhost/12.11/tiki-index.php?page=Community+Members+HomePage

which produced:

Error del sistema.

I'm using mysql 5.7.x, which is the default mysql installed in Ubuntu 16.04+ gnu/linux distrobutions.
I recall seing this type of error in the past, in other parts of Tiki when Mysql 5.7 was in use. :-/

Tiki 16.2:

===============================================

When I click at the link to "apply now" the profile "Collaborative Community" from the profiles wizard, I'm sent to this url as usual:

http://localhost/16.2/tiki-admin.php?profile=Collaborative_Community_12x&show_details_for=Collaborative_Community_12x&categories%5B%5D=16.x&categories%5B%5D=Featured+profiles&repository=http%3a%2f%2fprofiles.tiki.org%2fprofiles&page=profiles&preloadlist=y&list=List#step2

but this doesn't seem to trigger any more the display of the results as if tyhe user had clicked at the "Search" button in the Control Panel Profiles. I just get this:

"Collaborative_Community_12x: See profile info below (may take a few seconds to load)."

but the information of the profile is never shown in the box below.

If I click at the "Search" box manually there in the "Control Panel > Profiles" while the name of the profile pre-populating the field was "Collaborative_Community_12x", then the url produced is:

http://localhost/16.2/tiki-admin.php?ticket=7e98e05e1645e71bfd9724c2b4ea2e40&profile=Collaborative_Community_12x&categories%5B%5D=16.x&categories%5B%5D=Featured+profiles&repository=http%3A%2F%2Fprofiles.tiki.org%2Fprofiles&page=profiles&list=Cerca

which seems to have a param "ticket=longhash". That triggers indeed the display of the profile name in the bow below, with the link with get the profile loaded, however cliking a that link says "Loading profile" for a second or so, and nothing happens, profile is not loaded, so no way to attempt to click at a "Apply" button because it's not shown.

In addition, I've seen that at the "Control Panel > Profiles > Advanced (tab)", there is no display either of any profile repository information. So I don't get to see any info of whether profiles.tiki.org was available, or ready (no colored ball either, etc).

=========================================

Help! These 2 releases (12.11 and 16.2) are not in good shape to make them public, imho.

p.s. Oh yes, we should probably also stop the semi-automatic merging now, so a few weeks of refactoring and tidying up can all happen before 17.x time - discuss?

After more testing, I can tell this issue I had with creating a new file gallery on a brand new Tiki12.11 install already exist in 12.10 (so, no regression) and it goes away after clearing caches (so, no big deal).

I't weird that caches need to be cleared on a new install when one would expect them to be empty, but it is not a relaes blocker.

So… Please test the releases and verify there are no "real" issues.

Hi all

We did three new releases today, 16.2, 15.4 and 12.11 - please you you test the new tarballs from the usual place:

One test by Jean-Marc (creating the first new file gallery) broke badly in the 12.11 file galleries but Bernard and i were enable to reproduce.

I am out of time now, so if there are serious problems in this (or any of the other) you'll have to delete the releases and try again after fixes.

Good luck!

Re: [Tiki-devel] New releases

Bernard Sfez-3
Hello Xavi,

When I click at the link to "apply now" the profile "Collaborative Community" from the profiles wizard, I'm sent to this url as usual:

http://localhost/16.2/tiki-admin.php?profile=Collaborative_Community_12x&show_details_for=Collaborative_Community_12x&categories%5B%5D=16.x&categories%5B%5D=Featured+profiles&repository=http%3a%2f%2fprofiles.tiki.org%2fprofiles&page=profiles&preloadlist=y&list=List#step2

but this doesn't seem to trigger any more the display of the results as if tyhe user had clicked at the "Search" button in the Control Panel Profiles. I just get this:

"Collaborative_Community_12x: See profile info below (may take a few seconds to load)."

but the information of the profile is never shown in the box below.

I remember something similar and in my case I found out it is something to do with localhost.

After I test the same on my server it worked.

Not being fluent with profile I though the feature is not working with localhost.

Tiki 16.2:

===============================================

When I click at the link to "apply now" the profile "Collaborative Community" from the profiles wizard, I'm sent to this url as usual:

http://localhost/16.2/tiki-admin.php?profile=Collaborative_Community_12x&show_details_for=Collaborative_Community_12x&categories%5B%5D=16.x&categories%5B%5D=Featured+profiles&repository=http%3a%2f%2fprofiles.tiki.org%2fprofiles&page=profiles&preloadlist=y&list=List#step2

Help! These 2 releases (12.11 and 16.2) are not in good shape to make them public, imho.

Help needed.

Re: [Tiki-devel] New releases

Hi Xavi,

good catch! Sadly I did not test installing the Collaborative_Community_12x profile while doing the test of 16.x while we were doing the releases but I can confirm now what you describe for 16.2.

Trying to dig deeper. Ah, hmm... interesting... must be something with the profiles which is interferring now in 16.x, really, because loading of Collaborative_Community Profile or Collaborative_Community_4x_Blog_Addon works, but not the Collaborative_Community version specific ones...

I'm using mysql 5.7.x, which is the default mysql installed in Ubuntu 16.04+ gnu/linux distrobutions.
I recall seing this type of error in the past, in other parts of Tiki when Mysql 5.7 was in use. :-/

Tiki 16.2:

===============================================

Help! These 2 releases (12.11 and 16.2) are not in good shape to make them public, imho.

One test by Jean-Marc (creating the first new file gallery) broke badly in the 12.11 file galleries but Bernard and i were enable to reproduce.

I am out of time now, so if there are serious problems in this (or any of the other) you'll have to delete the releases and try again after fixes.

Good luck!

Hi again (cc Victor),

could it be somehow related to this? http://sourceforge.net/p/tikiwiki/code/60877

But I cannot find the commit where the yaml lib was actually changed...

I'm using mysql 5.7.x, which is the default mysql installed in Ubuntu 16.04+ gnu/linux distrobutions.
I recall seing this type of error in the past, in other parts of Tiki when Mysql 5.7 was in use. :-/

Tiki 16.2:

===============================================

=========================================

Help! These 2 releases (12.11 and 16.2) are not in good shape to make them public, imho.

We probably won't get much time as one of the one-click installers is very on the ball at spotting new releases!

Cheers all,

p.s. Oh yes, we should probably also stop the semi-automatic merging now, so a few weeks of refactoring and tidying up can all happen before 17.x time - discuss?

Cheers,

Good luck!

Hello all,

We are starting the work to initiate a release very soon.
Please do not commit anything (16, 15 and 12) in the coming hour.

If you have an emergency join us at live.tiki.org and speak (but act fast :D)

See you in a different version ! :)

Re: [Tiki-devel] New releases

Geoff - Enmore Services
All - just to chip in

I've only done one of my Tiki upgrades so far - it was a Tiki15 that updated to 16.2 and it all went OK

I used the .zip download but didn't run any profiles (it was just an upgrade) and my hoster has mysql 5.6.25 at present

Hope that contributes a bit

Re: [Tiki-devel] New releases

Xavier de Pedro (Tiki)
In reply to this post by luciash d' being

Odd, I confirm I can install (apply) 2 of the featured profiles in Tiki 16.2: "Company Intranet" and "Small Organization Web Presence", but I can't (issues as described below) the other 2: "Collaborative Community" and "Personal Blog and Profile".

I've reinstalled locally 16.1, and tested same profiles, and I could apply the 4 featured profiles with no issues at all.

FYI

Xavi

I'm using mysql 5.7.x, which is the default mysql installed in Ubuntu 16.04+ gnu/linux distrobutions.
I recall seing this type of error in the past, in other parts of Tiki when Mysql 5.7 was in use. :-/

Tiki 16.2:

===============================================

I't weird that caches need to be cleared on a new install when one would expect them to be empty, but it is not a relaes blocker.

So… Please test the releases and verify there are no "real" issues.

Re: [Tiki-devel] New releases

Bernard Sfez-3
Darn…

I have also a weird (not critical) issue with Tiki 15.4

I did an install from tar.gz in a new directory, updated a 15.3 database.
Setup the Tiki, flushed all the cache, rebuild index etc, but when I go to the admin it says :

" Upgrade Available

Version 15.3 LTS is still supported. However, an upgrade to 16.1 is available."

I checked the README file and it says 15.4.

Something was forgotten somewhere ?

Odd, I confirm I can install (apply) 2 of the featured profiles in Tiki 16.2: "Company Intranet" and "Small Organization Web Presence", but I can't (issues as described below) the other 2: "Collaborative Community" and "Personal Blog and Profile".

I've reinstalled locally 16.1, and tested same profiles, and I could apply the 4 featured profiles with no issues at all.

Tiki 16.2:

===============================================

Help! These 2 releases (12.11 and 16.2) are not in good shape to make them public, imho.

Cheers all,

p.s. Oh yes, we should probably also stop the semi-automatic merging now, so a few weeks of refactoring and tidying up can all happen before 17.x time - discuss?

Committed in trunk.
I checked in a Tiki 15 it is really outdated, not relevant ?

Should it be updated only in trunk ?

Bernard

PS: Thanks Jonny to be there even if you are not there. :D :D :D

Trying to dig deeper. Ah, hmm... interesting... must be something with the profiles which is interferring now in 16.x, really, because loading of Collaborative_Community Profile or Collaborative_Community_4x_Blog_Addon works, but not the Collaborative_Community version specific ones...

Tiki 12.11:

I'm using mysql 5.7.x, which is the default mysql installed in Ubuntu 16.04+ gnu/linux distrobutions.
I recall seing this type of error in the past, in other parts of Tiki when Mysql 5.7 was in use. :-/

Tiki 16.2:
===============================================

I am out of time now, so if there are serious problems in this (or any of the other) you'll have to delete the releases and try again after fixes.

I'm using mysql 5.7.x, which is the default mysql installed in Ubuntu 16.04+ gnu/linux distrobutions.
I recall seing this type of error in the past, in other parts of Tiki when Mysql 5.7 was in use. :-/

Tiki 16.2:
===============================================

We probably won't get much time as one of the one-click installers is very on the ball at spotting new releases!

Cheers all,

p.s. Oh yes, we should probably also stop the semi-automatic merging now, so a few weeks of refactoring and tidying up can all happen before 17.x time - discuss?

Cheers,
Jyhem

Good luck!

See you in a different version ! :)

Re: [Tiki-devel] New releases

Jonny Bradley-4
Hi all again :)

I just updated https://dev.tiki.org/Where+to+commit and did the last "official" merge to trunk from 16.x, so now we can resume all the fun housekeeping duties like indenting and removing dead stuff for a couple of months before we're off again on the 17.x release branch and cycle!

As usual, please update that page if it's doesn't make sense or if i missed anything important.

Thanks,

jonny
